Biography

Sayani Gupta was born on October 9, 1985, in Kolkata. She grew up in a culturally rich Bengali family with a strong inclination toward music. Her father, Kamal Gupta, was a respected musician and singer associated with All India Radio. Education and Training Sayani completed her graduation in History from Lady Shri Ram College under University of Delhi. During her college years, she actively participated in dance, theatre, and debating societies, showcasing her early passion for performing arts. She later pursued formal acting training at the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. In addition to acting, she is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, having undergone 17 years of rigorous training. Acting Career Sayani Gupta made her feature film debut in 2012 with Second Marriage Dot Com . However, her breakthrough came with her powerful performance in Margarita with a Straw (2015), where she portrayed Khanum, a blind lesbian activist. The role earned her widespread critical acclaim. She went on to feature in several notable Hindi films, often delivering impactful supporting performances, including: Fan (2016) Jolly LLB 2 (2017) Article 15 (2019) Web Series and Digital Success Sayani gained immense popularity in the digital space with her lead role as Damini Rizvi Roy in the Amazon Prime Video series Four More Shots Please!. Her performance in the show further cemented her position as a versatile and bold performer. Other Ventures Apart from acting, Sayani has explored multiple creative avenues. In 2026, she made her directorial debut with the short film Aasmani , which she also wrote and produced. She is also a singer and lent her voice to the song “Kahab To” in Article 15.
