Umair Ibn Lateef, originally from Srinagar, Kashmir, moved to Chennai during his teenage years to pursue his undergraduate studies. A graduate of Hindustan University, he launched his own entrepreneurial venture soon after completing his degree. While managing his small business during a visit to Mahabalipuram, he caught the attention of a casting executive. His unique identity as a Kashmiri and his fluent command of Tamil sparked their curiosity. This eventually led to an audition for the role of Waheed Ahmed, marking his acting debut in the film Amaran.
