Mr Local Review
Sivakarthikeyan is at his comfort zone and his screen presence is one of the major positives of the film. He cakewalks through the role of Manoharan and keeps the audiences entertained with his one-liners and timing. Nayanthara too makes a huge impact in her role as Keerthan.
Hip Hop Thamizha's songs are good with Takkunu Takkunu being the pick among the lot. The director has managed to package the film in a colourful way and the film also has an additional mass factor, which his previous films didn't have.
Verdict : Mr Local is a template-driven film that fails to entertain the viewers on a consistent basis.
The trouble with Mr Local is that there is no screenplay or a basic plot as the focus is clearly on its high profile stars.
Mr Local is just another mindless and aimless comedy aimed for the family audience. But the laugh is clearly on the audience.
The references transcend the boundaries of Tamil Cinema, and there is an imitation of Shah Rukh Khan. There is a small reference to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the scenes where Manohar plays football.
Verdict: Mr. Local misses out on entertainment despite an in-form Sivakarthikeyan
Sivakarthikeyan and Nayantara look good on screen, and that's the only positive factor in the film, which otherwise is full of ineffective one-liners, illogical scenes and exhausting dialogues and songs.
Sivakarthikeyan is indeed the film’s biggest strength and it's his show all the way. Be it action, comedy, and dance, full marks to the entertainer inside him. Nayanthara is perfect as Keerthana and she shines.
