Biography

Pravina Deshpande was born in 1965 in India. She began her artistic journey in theatre, where she developed a strong foundation in acting. Her experience on stage helped her transition smoothly into films and television, where she later became a familiar face in character roles. Entry into Films Deshpande made her film debut with Mumbai Meri Jaan in 2008. She went on to appear in several Hindi films, often portraying impactful supporting characters. Television Career She became a household name through popular daily soaps, appearing in numerous successful shows, including: Karam Apnaa Apnaa Kulfi Kumar Bajewala Ghar Ek Mandir Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai Over the years, she appeared in nearly 25 daily soaps, earning recognition for her natural performances. Notable Film Roles Deshpande appeared in several popular Bollywood films, including: Ready – as Shalu Chaudhary, one of her most recognised roles Ek Villain Gabbar Is Back Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran Jalebi Digital and Final Projects In the later phase of her career, she also worked in digital content. Her final projects included the crime thriller series Taskaree and the upcoming season of The Family Man (Season 3), where she portrayed the mother of the lead character. Personal Life Pravina Deshpande was married and is survived by her husband and two sons. She kept her personal life largely private while focusing on her acting career. Illness and Passing In 2019, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer. She fought the disease for several years before passing away at the age of 60 on 17 February 2026 in Mumbai. Her family confirmed the news through her official social media accounts, and her final rites were held at the Hindu Cemetery in Andheri.
