Thoranai is yet another half-baked mass masala from Vishal and his debutant director Sabha Ayyappan. There is nothing new in this flick and both the bottle and wine are very stale but somehow, it is watchable, thanks to Santhaanam and his comedy team.
Murugan (Vishal) is a Happy-Go-Lucky (as usual!) village guy in Madurai (Ayyo paavam Madurai!), who gets hauled up before the Panchayat for breaking pots and wreaking havoc during the village fair along with his friends.
Then he rushes to Chennai to search his missing brother Ganesan (Kishore) on request of his mother. Ganesan is ran away from his house at the age of 10. The reason is simple. He is beaten by his mother for tattooing his sweet heart's name (murai penn) on his chest.
