Ajith Kumar, the Thala of Tamil cinema celebrated his 49th birthday on May 1, 2020. Unlike the previous years, the fans of Ajith stayed away from celebrations this time upon the request of the actor himself. However, the Thala fans celebrated the actor's birthday on social media by creating special videos and making him trend on all platforms.
However, the admirers of Vijay, the close friend and onscreen rival of Thala Ajith, used the day to show the fan power of the Thalapathy. The Vijay fans created the hashtag #VijayFaceOfKollywood, and shared the throwback pictures and videos of their idol. It soon set a new record and emerged as the most trending hashtag of the day, with around 2.33 Million impressions.
However, another group of Vijay fans created a new hashtag called #NanbarAjith (as Vijay addresses the Valimai actor) as a token of respect for Thala Ajith on his birthday. This hashtag too trended on the various social media platforms throughout the day.
Even though their respective fans have always been in loggerheads, Ajith and Vijay maintain a great friendship in real life despite being onscreen rivals. Recently, the Thalapathy had mentioned how his Nanbar Ajith inspired him to dress up in a tuxedo, during the audio launch even if his highly anticipated upcoming project Master. When it comes to their respective professions, Thala Ajith will be next seen in the highly anticipated upcoming project Valimai. The movie, which is said to be an out and out action thriller, marks Ajith's second collaboration with director H Vinoth. Vijay, on the other hand, will be next seen in the upcoming movie Master, which is directed by Kaithi fame Lokesh Kanagaraj.
