Kalabhavan Navas was a popular actor and mimicry artist in Malayalam cinema, best known for his roles in Junior Mandrake, Amma Ammayiamma, My Dear Karadi, and One Man Show. Personal Life Kalabhavan Navas was born into a family deeply rooted in the performing arts. He was the son of Aboobacker, a respected actor and theatre artist who made significant contributions to Malayalam stage drama. Inspired by his father’s legacy, Navas developed a passion for performance early in life, which eventually led him to the world of mimicry and cinema. In 2002, Navas married Rehna, a popular television actress known for her roles in various Malayalam serials. Their relationship was admired by fans, and the couple shared a strong bond, balancing their professional and personal lives in the spotlight. Navas was also closely associated with his brother, Kalabhavan Niyaz, a fellow mimicry artist and stage performer. Together, the brothers often performed on stage and were part of several popular mimicry troupes, carrying forward the rich tradition of Malayalam mimicry and comedy. Their duo was celebrated for its humor, timing, and chemistry, making them a familiar presence in stage shows across Kerala and among Malayali audiences worldwide. Career Life Navas began his journey in the entertainment industry as a mimicry artist, eventually making his acting debut in 1995 with the film Chaithanyam. His talent soon earned him more opportunities, and he went on to shine in several supporting roles in notable films such as Mattupetti Machan, Junior Mandrake, and Amma Ammayiamma. Over the years, he collaborated with some of the biggest stars in Malayalam cinema, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Dileep. Known for his impeccable comic timing, Navas delivered humorous performances in hit films like Vettam, Chattambinadu, Cobra, and ABCD. In addition to his film career, Navas was also active on the stage circuit, often performing alongside his brother and fellow artist, Niaz Bakkar. On the professional front, Kalabhavan Navas was last seen in the comedy crime thriller drama Detective Ujjwalan. Directed by Rahul G and Indraneel Gopalakrishnan, and produced by Sophia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters, the film was released in theatres on May 23, 2025, and is currently available for streaming on Netflix. Death Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas was found dead in a hotel room in Chottanikkara on August 1, 2025. According to reports, he was discovered in his room, with preliminary findings suggesting a suspected heart attack as the cause of death.
