Kashinath is an actor and a director in the Kannada film industry in India. He has opened the door for other promising directors like Upendra, Manohar and Sunil Kumar Desai. Kashinath is identified as a trend setter in Kannada movie industry. He started the trend of acting, directing, music directing and the producing of films.
The film industry was stunned by the success of films made by Kashinath due to his unconventional style. He gave chances to youngsters who made themselves names in Kannada and throughout the Indian film industry. He touched subjects which were taboo in Indian society through his films, though they were considered vulgar by some critics.
His well known films are Anubhava, Anantana Avantara Avale Nanna Hendthi & Hendathi Andhray Haygirabeku. The dialogue which he used in his movies "Manglooru manjunatha" is very popular. Some scenes from his films have been copied by the advertising fraternity. His film Ajagajaanthara (1991) was remade in Hindi as Judaai (1997) starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Urmila Matondkar.
His film Avale Nanna Hendthi (1988) was remade in Hindi as Jawani Zindabad (1997) starring - Aamir Khan and Farah.The Decade 1980's can be called as Kashinath's yuga(period)in the kannada film Industry,since all the hit films given by him are of 1980's. Kashinath also made many hit movies by placing Super star Upendra as his assisstant Director,He has been regarded as Upendra's guru. Moreover, Kashinath planning to make a Hollywood movie
Kashinath who was suffering from cancer and Owing to these illness he died in Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital in Bangalore on 18 January 2018.
