Music Director/Singer
Rajesh Roshan (born Rajesh Roshan Lal Nagrath) is a Hindi Cinema music composer. Personal Life Rajesh Roshan is the son of Hindi film composer Roshan and is the brother of film director and actor Rakesh Roshan. He is also uncle to actor Hrithik Roshan. His teacher was Faiyaz Khan. Career Rajesh Roshan had a successful association with Basu Chatterjee, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. He shot to fame with the score for Julie for which he won the Filmfare Best Music Director Award. He is the first music director who made superstar Amitabh Bachchan to sing. He usually composes music for the films that his brother Rakesh Roshan either produces or directs, such as Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000), Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006). He also composed the song "Jaane Tamanna" for the internationally acclaimed film Valley of Flowers (2006) by Pan Nalin. Rajesh Roshan scored well in Khuddar and Inkar. His super-duper hit song filmed on Helen, i.e., "Mungda...Mungada..." is still the landmark in cabre songs in Bollywood. His another hit from Khuddar, i.e., "Mach gaya shor sari nagari re..." is still played regularly on the day of Krishna Janmashtami. The song from the same film, "Angreji me kahate hai ke I Love you", is one of the hits of Amitabh. In his brother's film, Kamchor the song "Tumse badhkar is duniya me" is still remembered as a marvellous one. In the film Yarana, the song, "Sara jamana" was a great hit of its time. In the 1990s, when even the mighty Laxmikant-Pyarelal and the popular Bappi Lahiri gradually lost their bearings, Rajesh had endured through films like Jurm and Bahaar Aane Tak (1990) — and after another dull phase, Karan Arjun and Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), Papa Kahte Hain (1996), Koyla (1997), Laawaris, Daag, Kaun Sachaa Kaun Jhootha and Dastak (1996), and Dandnayak and Main Solah Baras Ki (1998). Rajesh Roshan delivered several hit music scores pairing with his brother Rakesh, who had emerged as a director of great stature. The two worked on films like Kishan Kanhaiya, King Uncle, Karan Arjun, and Koyla. Rajesh scored the music for "Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai", the launch vehicle of Hrithik Roshan, and one of his brother's most ambitious projects. The film achieved significant success. The composer also won the Filmfare award for best music. He has composed the music of several Hrithik-starers, Rakesh Roshan-directed films, such as Koi...Mil gaya, Krrish, Kites. He is infamous for blatantly plagiarising the music of western composers, especially Vangelis.
