Sarigama Viji was a veteran actor and theater artist in the Kannada film industry. He made his debut in Sandalwood with a small role in the 1980 film Belavallada Madilalli, directed by Geethapriya. Known for his unique comedic style, Viji brought smiles and laughter to audiences through his performances. Viji gained the name "Sarigama" from his immensely popular play Samsaradalli Sarigama, which had over 1,000 performances. This iconic title became a part of his identity. Over the course of his career, he acted in more than 269 films and served as an assistant director for 80 movies. Additionally, he directed and acted in over 2,400 episodes of television serials. His collaboration with Tiger Prabhakar was particularly successful, with their films becoming major hits. Viji was also a close associate of Prabhakar's inner circle. In recent years, he distanced himself from films, with Dakota Express being his last movie appearance. Death Viji had been suffering from multi-organ failure and was undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital near Yeshwanthpur. Sadly, he passed away on January 15, 2025.
