Which Is The Best Kannada Movie Of 2014?
The year 2014 will not be counted as the best year for the Kannada film industry. Many highly anticipated movies have failed to do good at the box office. On the other hand, many viewers have been disheartened by the poor quality of movies. More than 100 movies were released this year in Kannada. However, only a handful have manged to taste success.

The slum in the film industry has been going on for the past many years. Lack of quality and originality in the Kannada movies has left the viewers with no other choice but to watch movies in other languages. While there have been attempts by the new comers this year to improve the quality, the fruits of their efforts are yet to be harvested.
What has hurt the Kannada film industry the most is the failure of some big budgeted movies. Ninnindale starring Puneet Rajkumar and Erica Fernandes failed miserably on the box office. Similarly Upendra starring Brahma was another disappointment for the fans. The movie had an average run at the box office, barely managing to recover the production cost.
Amongst all this disaster, some movies did manage to leave their mark in the film industry. Srimurali starrer Ugramm, directed by new come Prashant Neel has been appreciated by almost everyone. The movie was a massive hit and ran for more than 100 days is many theatres.
Similarly, Rakshit Shetty's Ulidavaru Kandanthe was a beautifully made movie with excellent cinematography and background score. The movie made on original story had an average run at the box office unfortunately. Many big actors like Sudeep and Prakash Raj were high impressed by the movie.

Ulidavaru Kandanthe
The movie marked the debut of actor Rakshit Shetty as a director. The movie has some stunning visuals. Combined with this excellent cinematography and background score, the movie was appreciated by many critics. The movie was not a huge hit in spite of its quality. This is by the far the best movie considering the technicality, script and acting by lead actors.
Ugramm
Ugramm was a comeback movie for actor Srimurali. Directed by new comer Prashant Neel, the movie became a blockbuster hit. The story of the movie is one of the biggest strength along with the acting of almost all the actors. The title song composed by Ravi Basrur became a raging hit among the youth. This is by far the most popular movie of the year.
Maanikya
A remake of the super hit Telugu movie Mirchi, Maanikya had Sudeep and Ravichandran acting together for the first time. The movie was directed by Sudeep himself and became a blockbuster hit. As a father and son duo on the screen, Ravichandran and Sudeep won the heart of viewers. This became the highest grosser in the Kannada film industry.
Gajakesari
Gajakesari became the debut for another director in the Kannada film industry. Cinematographer Krishna directed the movie about a violent warrior Baahubali and his connection to the modern day guy played by Yash. The movie became a massive hit and brought huge fame for Yash. The movie was appreciated for its cinematography, acting and song sequences.
Drishya
It is a remake of the super hit Malayalam movie Drishyam. It is one of those off beat Kannada movie that became an instant hit among the audience. Ravichandran was seen in a role that he has never portrayed before. The audience and the critics appreciated the movie for its story and the acting by the crazy star.
Power
A remake of super hit Telugu movie Dookudu, Power*** marked the debut for Tamil actress Trisha in Kannada film industry. The movie got a strong collection from the day 1. The highlight of the movie was the acting and dancing skills of Puneet. Power*** is about to complete 100 days in box office.
Sharan Adhyaksha
This is another remake movie that registered a good collection at the box office. After the huge success of Victory, the actor-director combination of Sharan and Nanda Kishore managed to deliver another super hit comedy movie. A remake of Tamil movie Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Sharan Adhyaksha was appreciated for the performance by Sharan, Chikanna and Ravishankar.
Bahaddur
Bahaddur is the second movie for Action prince Dhruv Sarja. He was paired up with actress Radhika Pandit again after the success of Addhuri. With a fresh story, good music and good performance by the lead actor, the movie was an instant success at the box office. Bahaddur managed to collect over 10 crores in just 10 day of its release.
Ambareesha
This is one movie which hit the gold at the box office in spite of negative review by the critics. Movie was criticized for its slow and illogical screenplay and poor direction by director Mahesh Sukhadare. However, Darshan proved why he is the sultan of box office. Ambareesha collected more than 13 crores in just 4 days.
