Prema Oka Maikam - Movie Review

Charmy Kaur, who forayed into Tollywood with Nee Thodu Kavali in 2002, is 11-year-old in the film industry. With her riveting performance and expressions, she has created a niche for herself. But in recent years, she has all dismal shows and failed to create a magic on screens. Her latest outing Prema Oka Maikam is a latest addition to her flop shows as it fails to impress the audience.

Prema Oka Maikam is a romantic entertainer, which revolves around three characters. 10th Class fame Chandu, who has written and directed the movie, has chosen a unique storyline, but has failed to bring the same on screen. The movie suffers from poor script, predictable plot, slow narration and bad editing.

The movie is all about a call girl, who does not believe in the idea of love. Her belief goes for a toss when she gets entangled in a love triangle. The movie opens with the story of the call girl and some portions in the first half of the film are interesting to watch on screen. After 40 minutes, the movie goes into flashback mode. The dragging narration and aimless story-telling in the second half take away the curiosity of the viewers.

Mallika (Charmy Kaur) a high class call girl, who is unapologetic about being a sex worker. Due to her rash driving, lyricist Lalith (Rahul) losses his sight. Realizing her mistake, she takes him to her house. While she is taking care of him, she finds his dairy, which reveals his love affair with singer Swathi (Saranya). What happen next will form the rest of the story.

Charmy's Performance In POM

Charmy Kaur has good scope for acting in Prema Oka Maikam and delivered good performance. But she fails to impress the viewers due to weak script. She looks very glamourous in a song sequence.

Rahul-Saranya's Performances In POM

As a lyricist, Rahul has tried his best to do justice to his role, but his performance is not very convincing. 10th Class fame Saranya has nothing much to do, but she has tried to use available space to impress the viewers. Thagubothu Ramesh, Ravi Babu, Rao Ramesh try their bit to tickle the funny bones of the audience.

POM Production Values

The production values of Prema Oka Maikam are average. Praveen K Bangari's cinematography is the main attraction in the technical front. The movie has meaningful lyrics, but MGK Praveen and SR Posam's tunes are not very impressive. Editor V Nagireddy could trimmed a few dragging scene to make the film crispy and enjoyable.

POM Verdict

Overall, Prema Oka Maikam is an average fare. It could have been an interesting watch, if the director had done proper homework on the script. You can skip this one.
