Girlfriend Kelly Khumalo Targeted On Twitter After Senzo Meyiwa's Death

Hours after the death of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa spread worldwide, Twitter has been flooded with a lot of comments. Taking two sides; Kelly Khumalo and Meyiwa's sides, fans are expressing themselves on Twitter.

Actress and singer Kelly Khumalo faced the ire of Twitter users on Monday after her boyfriend (Bafana Bafana captain) Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead by one of the gunmen, that too reportedly when he was at her home. It is even said that the player died while saving his girlfriend, Kelly. He was shot on the back with the bullet exiting his chest. Meyiwa was pronounced dead on arrival at Botshelong Hospital.

The 27-year-old national team and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa was married to Mandisa Mkhize. He was shot dead at about 8pm in Vosloorus on Sunday. Khumalo is the mother of a child with Meyiwa.

Police spokesman Brigadier Neville Malila could not confirm earlier on Monday whether Meyiwa was at Khumalo's home when he was shot.

Some tweets supporting Kelly were seen on the feed. For example, Mlacash Wamampela tweeted: "Kelly Khumalo must be traumatised... why are people being so mean to her though, whatever happened to empathy?" and Thembelihle Cele said, "Shame on all of you talking smack about @Kelly_Khumalo. Regardless of what you think of her, she's human, and she's going through it!"

On the other side, fans are reacting over the girlfriend of Senzo because of whom the football player lost his life. For example, NganekaMama tweeted: "@Kelly_Khumalo You see what messing in someone's marriage does; you should be stoned you adulterous witch".

Meanwhile Meyiwa's father will address the media, friends, colleagues and family at their Umlazi, Kwa-Zulu Natal at home today. Police is offering a R150 000 for information on the whereabouts of the suspects.
