Bulbul Movie Review

Challenging Star Darshan has opted for variety of subjects in the recent years. Be it his blockbuster Saarathi, an action-romantic film, action-thriller Chingaari, or historical Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna, he has tried to do different kind of films. As a result, he has evolved as an actor.

Now, the actor has teamed up with MD Shridhar, who had worked with Darshan in Porki, for Bulbul. The latest film is a remake of Telugu hit film Darling and the film is made under Challenging Stars' home banner Thoogudeepa Productions.

So, obviously people will have huge expectations for two reasons. Firstly, Darshan is returning after three consecutive hits and the film is made under his home banner, which has produced a couple of hit films. Well, has the film lived up to audience expectations? Read on the review to know it...

Ambareesh, Ashok, Ramesh Bhat, Sadhu Kokila and Tennis Krishna are friends who are settled in different places, decide to meet after a long time. Darshan plays the role of Ambi's son named Vijay, who is poor in studies. The Challenging Star is in love with his childhood friend Kaveri (Rachita Ram), who is the daughter of Ashok.

Meanwhile, Ramya Bharana, who is in love with Darshan, tries to commit suicide after he refuses her proposal. Her don father played by Sharath Lohitashwa threatens to kill the Challenging Star. But somehow Vijay convinces him by narrating a fictitious love story to him. However, Vijay learns when Kaveri comes to his place that she does not have such feelings towards him. He tries to impress her in so many ways, but she does not respond to any of his tricks.

Bulbul Review

Bulbul has a good amount of mass elements and family sentiments. It is a beautiful story with all the necessary ingredients of a commercial film. While the first half is entertaining, second half is brilliant.

Darshan is hunky dory. He impresses audience in lover-boy role. His chemistry with newcomer Rachita Ram works well. Ambareesh fits the role and mouths a few punch dialogues. He surprises with his dance moves in the song, 'Junior senior...'.

Rachita has tried hard to make an impact and she looks promising. Sharath Lohitashwa, who replaced Pradeep Rawat, is in his usual best. He has perfectly suited the role. Sharan's comedy scenes are good, Sadhu Kokila, Tennis and others have justified their roles.

Technically, V Harikrishna has done decent job. 'Nille nille kaveri...' sung by Hemanth Kumar and 'Jagadalliro...' crooned by Sonu Nigam are our picks from the album. AV Krishna Kumar has done neat job behind the camera. Dialogues by lyricist Kaviraj has to be praised, Soundaraj's editing is neat, and Ravi Varma's stunts are excellent.

Verdict: Bulbul is a complete family entertainer with all the mass elements. It is treat for Darshan's fans.
