Despite
all
the
objections
and
bans
raised
on
the
screening
of
Prakash
Jha's
Aarakshan,
the
movie
on
caste-based
reservations
and
commercialization
of
education
in
India,
managed
to
collect
rupees
25
crores
in
four
days.
Trade
analysts
view
that
Aarakshan's
business
will
rock
in
the
second
week.
Aarakshan
made
in
a
total
production
budget
of
rupees
42
crores,
features
actors
like
Amitabh
Bachchan,
Saif
Ali
Khan,
Manoj
Bajpayee,
Deepika
Padukone
and
Prateik
Babbar.
The
occupancy
in
its
opening
weekend
stayed
around
60
to
70
percent.
The
film
was
banned
in
Uttar
Pradesh.
Though
in
Gurgaon
their
was
a
ban
in
the
film's
screening
on
Saturday
and
Sunday
for
security
reasons,
Delhi
overall
saw
an
average
response.
Ban
on
Aarakshan
in
three
states
namely,
Andhra
Pradesh,
Punjab
and
Uttar
Pradesh
for
fear
of
anti-Dalit
comments
in
the
movie,
has
definitely
affected
the
business
of
the
film,
views
Jha.
Though
the
ban
was
lifted
in
Andhra
Pradesh
on
Saturday
and
in
Punjab
on
Monday,
still
the
maximum
Hindi
speaking
people
hail
from
Uttar
Pradesh,
which
has
hugely
affected
the
Box
Office
results.
The
Supreme
Court
on
Tuesday
has
asked
the
Uttar
Pradesh
Government
to
file
its
reply
by
Thursday
to
filmmaker
Prakash
Jha's
petition
seeking
a
stay
of
the
ban.
Things
will
hopefully
take
better
turns
for
Aarakshan
in
the
second
weekend.
