Women’s Activists Up In Arms Against Badrinath Ki Dulhania's 'Male Molestation' Scene!
Women's activists and the moral police are up in arms against a male molestation scene in Badrinath Ki Dulhania and director Shashank Khaitan defended himself and the scene.
Women's
activists
and
the
moral
police
are
up
in
arms
against
a
scene
in
Badrinath
Ki
Dulhania
in
which
Varun
Dhawan's
clothes
are
torn
off
in
a
dark
alley
and
Alia
Bhatt
rescues
him
by
covering
his
modesty
by
using
her
dupatta
and
everyone
shares
a
hearty
laugh
at
the
joke
which
is
presented
in
a
light
hearted
manner.
However,
not
everyone
took
the
joke
lightly
and
have
targeted
producer
Karan
Johar
and
director
Shashank
Khaitan
for
cracking
jokes
on
a
sensitive
topic
like
molestation,
whichever
gender
it
might
be.
In
his
defence,
Shashank
Khaitan
said
that
he
did
not
trivialise
or
ridicule
the
crime
and
said
that
his
intention
was
just
to
showcase
the
actor's
plight
and
helplessness
in
the
scene
in
a
comical
way.
He
said,
"The
intent
was
to
show
Badri's
character
at
an
all-time
low.
Emotionally
he
was
down
and
out.
Vaidehi
(Bhatt)
had
stripped
him
of
his
'mardangi'
when
she
asked
him
to
call
his
father
and
he
couldn't.
He
was
emotionally
defenceless
and
was
unable
to
even
protect
his
physical
'izzat'.
The
humour
was
to
comfort
and
not
trivialise
the
issue."
Shashank
Khaitan
also
pointed
out
that
such
scenes
in
Aamir
Khan's
3
Idiots
were
made
skillfully
but
if
misinterpreted,
everything
looks
offensive.
He
said,
"One
of
the
most
legendary
scenes
in
recent
times
is
Raju
Hirani's
3
Idiots
scene.
If
taken
in
the
wrong
spirit,
even
that
can
seem
offensive."
