100% Love – Movie Review

By Ramchander

Sukumar started his career by delivering superhit movie Arya. After that, he failed to deliver films on par with his first movie. Though they were not big hits, none of his films were duds nor below average film. Naga Chaitanya, who fumbled with the first film, delivered a hit with Ye Maya Chesave and proved that he would suit at best for lover boy characters. Now, they have joined hands for 100% Love. Let's see what they have offered.

Story:
Balu (Naga Chaitanya) is a topper in Class X, Intermediate and in Eamcet. He joins an engineering college. He doesn"t have any other thing in mind except studies. His father (Naresh) invites his niece Mahalakshmi (Tamanna) from her village to pursue higher education in the city. She too joins the same college. She wonders at Balu"s IQ. So she request hims to help her in academics, as she comes from a Telugu medium school and she becomes the topper. This irks Balu and tries to divert her attention and in the process of this cat and mouse game, another classmate Ajit (Anand) becomes the topper.

Realising this, Balu and Maha compromise with each other and decide to deviate the attention of Ajit and succeed in it with Balu again capturing the top slot. Maha admits that Ajit is great, as he was short of just two per cent, despite their attempts to deviate his attention. This causes heartburn to Balu, as he had lots of ego and chides Maha leading to their separation. The rest of the story revolves around how they rekindle their relationship.

Performance:
When it comes to performance, Tamanna has dominated the film with her acting capabilities. She looks too glamorous in the film. Naga Chaitanya has also improved a lot from his earlier flicks. He has done a neat job in dances too though not so great. His dialogue modulation too has improved phenomenally than previous films. Other artists including Naresh and Vijaykumar have done justice to their respective roles.

Technical:
Cinematography took the cake in the film, as Venkat Prasad maintained excellent lighting all through the film. Editing by Karthika Srinivas is also appropriate. In such kind of love subjects with college in its backdrop, screenplay plays a major role to run the story and Hariprasad has done lots of efforts to maintain the tempo in the film. Music is another highlight of the film. Almost all the songs are good to listen and especially the literary values of the songs are extraordinary. The audience have the chance to watch Sukumar"s directorial ability in the first half. But the director lost the grip on the subject in the second half. He has not been able to deal with the sentiment scenes in the second half. The last half-an-hour before the climax is good to watch.

Remarks:
Youth will enjoy the film and it is a decent watch for the entire family. However, the audiences have to bear about one and a half hour of boring scenes in the second half. Till the interval bang the film is entertaining and after that the narration turns damn slow and it picks up momentum before the climax scene and the climax scene too appears quite routine. Watch the film for Tamanna"s glamour and performance.
