The
very
talented
actress
Seema
Biswas,
who
perfectly
portrayed
Phoolan
Devi
in
Shekhar
Kapur's
Bandit
Queen,
will
be
the
first
Indian
actress
to
play
a
transsexual
role
in
Indian
cinema.
She
will
feature
in
the
role
of
a
transgender
in
Queen!
Dance
of
Destiny.
The
character
in
the
film
is
inspired
by
Manvendra
Singh
Gohil
from
the
royal
family
of
Rajpipla.
Director
David
Atkin
speaks
about
the
character
to
Mumbai
Mirror,
“Manvendra
Singh
Gohil
is
a
strong
name
in
the
industry.
While
I
was
writing
the
character,
he
was
the
only
one
I
could
relate
to
Seema
Biswas"s
role.
Seemaji
is
a
brilliant
actress
and
I
had
complete
faith
that
she
would
do
justice
to
the
role."
Seema
Biswas
who
is
all
set
to
shoot
for
Deepa
Mehta's
film
says
that
it
was
tough
to
play
a
transgender
in
Queen!
Dance
of
Destiny.
She
said,
“Though
I
agreed
to
play
the
role,
it
was
not
easy.
I
had
to
sit
through
two
hours
of
make-up
just
to
look
like
a
transsexual."
Seema
reveals
her
character
saying,
“I
play
the
role
of
Guru
amma,
who
is
like
the
head
of
a
group
of
transsexuals.
The
character
is
very
similar
to
that
of
Manvendra
Singh,
who
had
to
go
through
a
lot
in
life
since
he
was
not
like
the
rest
of
his
family."
The
film
also
stars
transsexual
Laxmi
Narayan
Tripathi,
who
made
an
appearance
on
Salman
Khan"s
TV
show
Dus
Ka
Dum.
