The
man
once
credited
for
his
great
filmmaking,
is
no
longer
the
industry's
favourite.
Instead,
his
Box
office
success
seems
to
be
eluding
him
now.
The
man
in
concern
is
none
other
than
the
once
God
of
underworld
filmmaking
Ram
Gopal
Varma,
who
has
received
tremendous
blastings
in
the
last
few
years,
for
his
horrendous
movies
like
Department,
Ram
Gopal
Varma
Ki
Aag,
Not
A
Love
Story
and
so
on.
RGV's
latest
release
Satya
2
is
yet
another
inclusion
in
his
worst
list.
Featuring
Puneet
Singh
Ratn,
Anaika
Soti
and
Mahesh
Thakur
in
the
leads,
Satya
2
was
said
to
be
exploring
a
new
kind
of
underworld
which
Varma
believes
can
spring
up
anytime.
But,
did
the
film
really
succeed
to
explore
any
such
kind
of
future
underworld?
Satya
2
is
a
bad
joke
at
best,
a
terribly
half-hearted
attempt
to
one
of
the
most
iconic
underwolrd
creations
Satya.
Story:
Satya
2
was
touted
to
be
a
sequel
to
Varma's
hugely
successful
1998
film
Satya
but
the
filmmaker
has
emphasised
several
times
that
the
new
film
is
not
a
sequel.
Satya
2
is
about
a
man
whose
thinking
starts
where
all
the
earlier
real
life
dons
like
Dawood
Ibrahim's
and
Chota
Rajan's
thinking
ended.
It
revolves
around
the
story
of
a
person
named
Satya,
an
immigrant
who
comes
to
Mumbai
aiming
to
refashion
the
mumbai
underworld.
After
watching
Satya
2,
I
can't
come
up
with
appropriate
enough
words
to
describe
the
horror
I
felt
sitting
in
the
theatre
and
testing
my
patience.
Satya
2
is
not
even
close
to
Satya,
which
is
till
date
considered
as
one
of
the
best
underworld
creations.
Not
only
that,
a
number
of
unwarranted
songs
actually
ruin
the
proceedings
further
in
Satya
2.
Performances:
In
the
past,
we
had
seen
RGV
discovering
then
new
talents
like
Urmila
Matondkar,
Aftab
Shivdasani,
Manoj
Bajpai,
who
later
went
on
to
become
some
of
the
biggest
names
oof
the
industry.
But
unfortunately,
in
Satya
2,
Varma's
new
discovery
Puneet
Singh
Ratn
was
a
big
mistake.
Puneet
is
a
unconvincing
and
a
sheer
disaster.
On
the
other
hand,
Anaika
[as
Chitra]
exudes
vulnerability,
but
the
conviction
is
lacking
in
her
performance,
while
Mahesh
Thakur
is
superb.
Verdict:
On
the
whole,
Satya
2
is
neither
novel,
nor
experimental,
rather
a
big
disappointment.
