Modala Sala is a romantic love story, says Yash

Sandalwood actor Yash debuted through Shashank directed movie Moggina Mansau, which got him rave reviews for his performance. Although his next movies Rocky and Gokula were not big hits, they got him essential credit as a hero and got him many offers. His fourth movie Kallara Santhe, which is doing well, has got him a complete hero image in the hearts of the audience. Now actor is busy with the shooting of his upcoming movie Modala Sala.

Recently, the budding Kannada star spoke to oneindia.in. Here are the excerpts of Yash interview with us.

How were your college days?
Since my school days, I was much more interested in co-curricular activities than curricular subjects. I was very much passionate about dance programs. I"ve participated in several dance competition and have won state level awards too. During my college days, I came in contact with Benaka drama team and acted in plays like Jokumaaswamy, Kattale Belaku, Sabarana Kathe and many others.

What made you enter the Kannada film industry? Do you have any godfather?
Firstly, I don"t have any godfather or any of my family members related to film industry. I"m the first person to enter films in my family. My interest and passion drove me to acting.

Have you done any course in acting/dancing?
No. I haven"t done any formal course in acting or dancing. But I have learned a lot from my theatre experience. Theatre is my guru and my theatre experience is my course.

Your first movie Moggina Manasu has got five filmfare awards? Do you think that it has affected your acting career?
Not really, because the movie got awards very recently. Before that, I"ve got good audience response for my acting. That"s the biggest award for me. I"ve starred in serials like Uday TV"s 'Uttarayana' and ETV"s 'Nanda Gokula', 'Malebille' and 'Preethi Illada Mele'. Recently, I"ve also appeared in Dooradarshan"s 'Shiva'. These serials have got me lot of recognition and offers.

What was your experience on the sets of Kallara Santhe?
I had really a wonderful experience on the sets. I had a very challenging role. Firstly I sat with Agni Shridhar sir for a month. He was quite cooperative. We used to discuss the depth of my role. He taught me every silly details and demands of my role. Then it was easy job for me.

What is your feeling about young Sumana Kittur directing well-known journalist Agni Shridhar"s script?
For her also, it was a biggest challenge. Since it was her second movie as director, she had to struggle a lot. But she did lot of home work on the script. Finally, she was successful in getting justice to Shridhar sir"s script.

Your onscreen chemistry with Haripriya has got good response from the film critics. What would you say? How did you manage to get such cooperation from the actress?
That was because of our rehearsal. Before going to take a shot, me, director Sumana and actress Haripriya used to sit together and discuss hell lot of things. Then we used to appear for the real shot. Haripriya was very cooperative on the sets. Of course, many scenes, where our chemistry was not gelling well, have been left out in the final copy.

How is the audience"s response for your latest release Kallara Santhe?
I"ve got good response from the audience. They are very proud of my attempt and concept of the movie.

How do you manage the crowd of fans?
I really enjoy it very much. I"m a hard worker and I work 18 hours a day. I would like to mingle with audience to know their tastes and their pulse so that I can work to reach their expectations to get loved by them.

Do you think that the movie will complete 100 days?
I really don"t like this idea of 100 days, because I feel this very concept is out dated and out of fashion. These days, film goers will get lot of information about a movie from TV, websites, news paper and cine magazines. There won"t be any curiosity about the movie left in them. I think no film will attract audience for three and a half month (100 days). So for me, what is important is the number of audience watch a show, not the number of days the movie run for.

Presently, you are busy with the shooting of Modala Sala. What role are you playing in the movie? How is shooting going on? Which places the movie is being shot in?
The movie Modala Sala is a romantic love story. Hero of the film is a rich guy and I play this role. It"s all about what happens when the rich guy falls in love. The film will be a visual treat. The shooting is going on briskly. Tomorrow, we"re leaving for Kerala to shoot the movie.

Are you acting with Shivaraj Kumar in director Agni Shridhar"s debut movie Thamassu?
Yes! It"s just a guest appearance.

Do you have any dream role, which you want to play in the future project?
I"ve too many. But I would like to play the roles, which a common can relate himself with.

What kind of movies would you like to act in future?
I"ve been very choosy about my roles as well as the script of my movies. That"s why I"ve rejected many projects. Every time, I look for a different script and challenging role. I would like to do movies based on the taste of the audiences.

What do you think about remake movies? Would you like to act in remakes?
I don"t like the very idea that a particular movie is a superhit and it should be remade in Kannada. So far no remake movie has excited me. I don"t have any qualms in acting in remakes. If I get good script with good role, I"m ready.

Have you signed any new projects?
Recently, I"ve signed a movie, which will be directed by debutant Raghu. He himself has written story and screenplay for it. Soon the movie will go to sets.

I love you very much, I love Kannada film industry and I work to build the industry stronger. You also love me, love Kannada films and help to enrich the industry. Thank you all for your support.
