girl
Mary,
left
orphaned
by

Father

a
kind-hearted
priest,

a
small
house
for
her
on
church
property
and
gets
her
a
job
as
a
salesgirl
in
a
textile
showroom.
She
lives
there
with
her
grandfather
Charlie.
But
Mary's
grandfather,
a
drunkard,
always
takes
away
the
money
she
earns.
Mary's
only
relief
is
her
friends
Roy,
Solomon
and
Shalom.
She
just
manages
to
drag
herself
on
through
this
rather
dull
and
dreary
existence,
nursing
all
kinds
of
hopes
in
her
heart.
And
then,
all
of
a
sudden,
something
good
happens
to
this
hapless
girl!
