Jayam
Ravi's
much
awaited
Bhooloham
has
finally
swooped
into
cinema
halls
all
over
Tamil
Nadu.
With
an
interesting
cast
and
a
decent
build-up,
Bhooloham
was
expected
to
be
an
engrossing
sports
based
drama.
Has
the
film
lived
up
to
its
expectation?

Bhooloham
Plot:
Bhooloham
is
all
about
two
boxing
teams
and
the
rivalry
between
them,
which
goes
back
in
time.
Jayam
Ravi,
who
belongs
to
the
team
'Naatu
Marunthu
Vaithiyar'
is
pitted
against
a
tough
competitor
from
the
other
team.
With
this
particular
fight
all
set
to
take
the
center
stage,
the
movie
focuses
on
a
greedy
businessman,
played
by
Prakash
Raj,
who
runs
a
sports
channel,
only
for
profits.
What
Prakash
Raj
does
to
increase
the
TRP
ratings
of
his
channel
by
making
use
of
these
boxers
forms
the
crux
of
this
story.
Performances:
Jayam
Ravi
deserves
a
pat
on
his
back
for
effortlessly
fitting
into
the
role
of
a
ruthless
boxer
from
North
Chennai.
His
mannerisms,
dialogue
delivery
and
efforts
taken
to
beef
up
his
body
add
value
to
his
role.
Trisha
gets
a
meaty
role
but
fails
to
make
much
out
of
it.
Prakash
Raj
as
the
main
antagonist
has
come
up
with
yet
another
terrific
performance.
Nathan
Jones
of
Troy
fame
will
take
you
by
surprise,
which
is
an
added
advantage.
On
the
whole,
Bhooloham
is
blessed
with
a
strong
cast.
Technicalities:
Kudos
to
the
director
Kalyanakrishnan
for
taking
us
back
in
time
to
educate
about
the
history
of
boxing
in
Tamil
Nadu.
This,
along
with
many
other
interesting
sequences
in
the
first
half
makes
it
an
interesting
watch.
The
second
half
though
falls
flat
on
execution,
which
is
one
of
the
major
drawbacks
of
this
film.
Another
such
drawback
is
Srikanth
Deva's
music,
which
fails
to
support
the
proceedings
on
screen.
Cinematography
by
Sathish
Kumar
is
fresh
and
adds
solidity
to
the
film.
Overall
View:
On
paper,
Bhooloham
has
the
potential
to
become
a
classy
entertainer
based
on
boxing.
But
thanks
to
a
mediocre
second
half,
this
Jayam
Ravi
starrer
turns
out
to
become
a
harmless
one
time
watch.
