Interview: Hamsa Nandini Blessed To Work With Pawan Kalyan, Nagarjuna

By Ians English

Actress Hamsa Nandini has grooved to four popular dance songs in southern films in just a few months, but she doesn't like the expression 'item number'. The actress says the reach that such numbers give to actors is phenomenal. She is ready for more dance numbers in films as she is not a mainstream heroine and she is happy to do it for the audiences, who want to see more of her on screen.

The actress has featured in chartbusters such as Mirchi and Bavagarlu in the recent past. In an interview to IANS, Hamsa Nandini said, "Firstly, I don't think they are item numbers because I don't expose in any of my songs. I don't have a problem doing these songs because I'm not a mainstream heroine yet, and moreover if audience wants to see more of me, I would happily oblige."

Hamsa Nandini has worked in Telugu and Tamil films and is successful in impressing the viewers in both languages. She added, "So many producers call up every day asking me to dance in their films, but I have been very choosy. I have forgone so many opportunities because I seek a purpose even behind these songs."

She admits these songs help in reaching out to the masses. "It gives you phenomenal reach especially if you're paired opposite big stars. I believe it is a good platform to reach out to the masses. I'm happy doing a five-minute dance number that assures me a lot of attention rather than featuring in 10 scenes in a film with no scope for performance," said Hamsa, who started career as a model.

The item hot girl, who is seen with Pawan Kalyan in dance sequence in Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi, is currently awaiting release one of her item numbers with superstar Nagarjuna. Continue to read Hamsa Nandini's interview.

She added, "It just appears glamorous on screen, but nobody knows how many days of rehearsals we do for the song. I remember for Mirchi, I had to dance barefoot in a chilli field under the hot sun. You can imagine how hot that would have been, but I still did it."

She said, "I also give importance to directors because not all of them can make you look good on screen. Very few directors have an eye for making an actress look sexy yet not dirty in these songs. The reason I agreed to work in Ramayya Vasthavayya is because of Harish Shankar (director)."
