Naga Chaitanya to play Akshay's role in Welcome remake

Akshay Kumar's Hindi film Welcome, which was directed by Anees Bazmee, was a super-hit romantic comedy film in 2007. Now, producer Vishnu Babu, who has reportedly bought its remake rights, has planned to bring it to Telugu audience. According to reports, actor Naga Chaitanya will play the lead role in this movie.

Welcome is all about a criminal don Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar), who is planning to get his Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) married, but none wants to be associated with a crime family. How he forces Dr Ghunghroo (Paresh Rawal) to marry his nephew Rajiv (Akshay Kumar) with his sister will form the crux of the story. The movie opened to mixed reviews, but was a big success at the Box Office.

Now, reports suggest that Naga Chaitanya will reprise the role of Akshay Kumar in the Telugu remake of the film Welcome. Mohan Babu is said to play Nana Patekar's role, while Srihari essays Anil Kapoor's role from the original. The producers of this movie are currently looking for a top-league actress to reprise Katrina Kaif's role.

However, reports claim that a well-known writer is working on the script of the Telugu version of Welcome and the characters will be altered to suit the taste of Telugu film viewers. The movie is expected to start rolling from the next month.
