Two
new
Telugu
releases
Sikandar
and
Lovers,
which
had
a
big
clash
at
the
ticket
counters,
have
concluded
the
first
week
with
a
decent
collection
at
the
worldwide
Box
Office
in
the
first
week.
The
Surya
and
Samantha
starrer
has
topped
the
business
chart,
while
the
Sumanth
Ashwin
and
Nanditha
starrer
landed
in
the
second
place.
But
considering
its
screen
count,
Lovers
has
done
better
performance
than
Sikandar.
Sikandar
is
the
dubbed
version
of
Tamil
film
Anjaan.
Riding
high
on
its
huge
pre-release
hype
and
promotions,
the
movie
released
in
a
large
number
of
screens
across
Andhra
Pradesh
and
Telangana
on
August
15
and
opened
to
fantastic
response
on
Friday.
Due
to
independence
day
holiday,
the
film
did
superb
collection
on
the
first
day.
Its
opening
day
collection
was
far
better
than
that
of
another
new
release
Lovers.
But
a
negative
word
of
mouth
took
the
business
of
Sikandar
downwards
over
the
weekend.
Its
collection
witnessed
further
drop
on
the
weekdays.
The
movie
has
collected
approximately
Rs
8
crores
nett
at
the
Box
Office
in
the
first
week.
Producer
Sridhar
Lagadapati
has
shelled
out
Rs
16
crores
on
its
distribution
rights.
If
he
has
to
recover
his
investments,
the
movie
has
to
show
improvements
in
coming
days.
Whereas
Lovers
is
a
shoe-string
budget
film
that
released
in
a
limited
number
of
theatres.
The
makers
of
the
film
themselves
distributed
in
most
of
the
areas.
It
had
decent
response
on
its
opening
day.
Having
garnered
a
strong
word
of
mouth,
the
movie
went
on
strength
to
strength
over
the
weekend
as
well
as
on
weekdays.
It
has
collected
approximately
Rs
4.5
crores
nett
at
the
Box
Office
in
the
first
week.
