Bollywood
actress
Madhuri
Dixit
has
been
declared
the
most
inspirational
female
Bollywood
icon
at
the
third
annual
Bradford
Inspirational
Women
Awards
(BIWA)
in
UK.
Bollywood's
one
of
the
most
popular
diva
of
her
era,
Madhuri
Dixit
happens
to
be
the
first
to
be
honoured
with
the
award.
"I
wanted
to
reach
out
and
thank
the
Inspirational
Women's
Foundation
for
choosing
me
as
the
most
inspirational
Female
Bollywood
Icon
of
all
times.
It's
indeed
a
great
honour," said
Madhuri
through
a
video
that
was
played
at
the
event.
The
Gulaab
Gang
protagonist,
Madhuri
Dixit
further
added,
"I
have
been
a
constant
advocate
of
women's
empowerment
and
I
have
worked
hard
throughout
my
career
to
advance
the
cause.
It's
heartening
to
see
that
gender
equality
is
really
becoming
a
reality
but
there
is
still
much
more
to
be
done
and
I
am
sure
we
can
empower
women
world
wide
by
working
together."
Madhuri
who
reigned
Bollywood
during
the
90s
has
been
a
proud
winner
of
several
awards
including
six
Filmfare
Awards
for
Best
Actress,
one
for
Best
Supporting
Actress,
one
Special
Filmfare
Award
for
completing
25
years
in
the
industry
and
the
lady
also
holds
the
record
of
having
highest
Best
Actress
nominations
in
Filmfare.
And
not
to
be
left
out,
she
was
honoured
with
Padma
Shri
in
2008.
Madhuri
made
her
debut
in
Bollywood
with
the
movie
Abodh
(1984),
however
the
versatile
actress
got
wide
spread
recognition
with
the
movie
Tezaab
(1988)
and
since
then
there
has
been
no
turning
back
for
the
dancing
beauty.
Nevertheless,
Madhuri
got
somewhat
detached
from
Bollywood
since
her
marriage
in
1999
and
later
made
a
comeback
into
the
industry
in
2007
with
Aaja
Nachle
which
however,
did
not
work
well.
But
the
talented
diva
has
yet
again
proved
her
worth
by
impressing
all
her
fans
with
the
latest
movie
Gulaab
Gang.
Well,
we
wish
more
accolades
for
Madhuri
in
coming
days.
