Association
organised
the
inaugural
function
of
Pearl
Awards
on
Friday.
The
event
was
held
at
West
End
Park
near
the
industrial
area
of
Qatari
capital
Doha.
The
park
teemed
with
Indians
for
the
show,
which
was
held
to
mark
100
years
of
Indian
cinema
and
85
years
of
Malayalam
cinema,
the
Gulf
Times
reported
on
Saturday.
The
inaugural
function
of
Pearl
Awards
was
followed
by
a
concert
and
a
series
of
dances
and
several
film
personalities
from
India
entertained
the
crowd.
There
were
around
50
well-known
artists
and
other
people
associated
with
the
South
Indian
film
industry.
Popular
Malayalam
actor
Mammootty,
singer
KJ
Yesudas,
music
director
Dakshinamoorthy,
lyricist
ONV
Kurup
and
Bollywood
director
Priyadarshan
were
among
those
stars,
who
graced
stage
on
the
occasion.
Minister
MK
Muneer
of
the
Indian
State
of
Kerala
and
former
Kerala
Minister
and
actor
KB
Ganesh
Kumar
were
also
present.
According
to
Edavela
Babu,
secretary
of
the
Association
of
Malayalam
Movie
Artists
(MAA),
around
40
artists
from
the
association
performed
at
the
show.
