Ashutosh
Gowariker
is
known
to
be
a
man
with
Midas
touch
when
it
comes
to
churning
out
period
dramas.
He
has
given
us
memorable
films
like
'Lagaan'
and
'Jodhaa
Akbar'
in
the
past.
His
last
film
'Mohenjo
Daro'
starring
Hrithik
Roshan
and
Pooja
Hegde
may
have
failed
to
work
its
magic
at
the
box
office,
but
that
hasn't
deterred
the
man
from
stepping
out
of
his
comfort
zone.
A
little
birdie
tells
us
that
the
film-maker
was
planning
a
period
drama
on
the
brave
and
valiant
Maratha
warrior
Chhatrapati
Shivaji
Maharaj,
and
wanted
to
rope
in
Varun
Dhawan
for
the
title
role.
Exciting,
isn't
it?
However,
here
comes
a
sad
twist
in
the
tale!
Unfortunately,
the
film
is
said
to
have
been
now
shelved
now
due
to
some
unknown
reasons.
Is
Gowariker
a
bit
hesitant
now,
to
tell
a
tale
of
epic
proportions
considering
'Mohenjo
Daro'
proved
to
be
a
cold
turkey
and
received
flak
from
the
audience?
Well,
it
seems
so
if
one
goes
by
all
these
rumours.
Nevertheless,
we
would
have
loved
to
see
Varun
playing
a
historical
figure.
The
young
lad
has
always
charmed
us
with
his
good
looks
and
versatile
acting
skills,
be
it
as
a
Student
Of
The
Year
or
as
a
revenge-seeker
in
Sriram
Raghavan's
gritty
thriller
Badlapur.
His
comic
timing
too,
is
spot
on
and
unlike
some
of
his
contemporaries
the
actor
has
never
developed
cold
feet
when
it
comes
to
trying
out
new
roles.
Varun
is
currently
busy
shooting
for
Shashank
Khaitan's
Badrinath
Ki
Dulhania,
which
has
him
teaming
up
with
Alia
Bhatt,
once
again.
He
will
also
be
seen
in
a
double
role
in
Judwaa
2
and
speculations
are
rife
that
he
is
also
a
part
of
Shiddat.
With
so
many
projects
on
his
platter,
we
must
say
Varun
is
quite
a
busy
man
these
days!
