Urmila Matondkar joins the Congress party and was welcomed by Rahul Gandhi. She might contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections against BJP's Goyal Shetty from the Mumbai North constituency.

The Rangeela actress Urmila Matondkar joined the Congress party today after meeting party chief Rahul Gandhi at his residence in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi welcomed Urmila in the party fold and wished her the best. Later, at a press conference, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the actress will contribute in spreading the Congress ideology and will play a part in strengthening the party.
