Kalpana, the National Award winning actress, left this world on 25th January, 2016. The sudden demise of the super-talented actress has surely been a huge shock to her fans and the movie industry.

The actress, who was born as Kalpana Priyadarshini, to the popular theatres artists, Chavara VP Nair and Vijayalakshmi. Popular actresses Kalaranjini and Urvashi are her sisters.

Interestingly, Kalpana began her career as the leading lady, by replacing her sister Kalaranjini in K Bhagyaraj's blockbuster movie Chinna Veedu, at the age of 20.

Even though she was familiar to the audiences through her roles as a child and supporting artist, Chinna Veedu cemented her place in the Southern film industry.

She later played the female lead in several films, including the Kamal Haasan starrer Sathi Leelavathi. But among the Malayali audiences, Kalpana was always famous for her comical appearances.

The actress, who was undoubtedly the one and only female comedian who managed to reach Jagathy Sreekumar's stardom, but always wanted to do a serious role.

She received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress, for her role in Thanichalla Njan. In her last silver screen outing, Charlie, Kalpana played a highly intense role, unlike her usual self.

We are quite sure that Kalpana was, is, and always will be an irreplaceable personality in our industry. But, the actress she will always remain as one of the most favourite actresses of the industry.
