Remembering Karunanidhi: When A Mollywood Celebrity Directed His Scripts!

Kalaignar Karunanidhi has bid a goodbye to the world and his loss is an irreplaceable one to the land of Tamil Nadu. Apart from being a great leader, he was an integral part of the Tamil film industry as well and he has penned some great movies of Tamil cinema.

He hasn't penned the script for any Malayalam movie but one celebrity from the Malayalam film industry had the chance to direct two movies, which had their script penned by the legend. Yes, we are talking about actor-director Cochin Haneefa, who had got the big opportunity to work with Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

Cochin Haneef was a well-known celebrity in tamil films as well and he directed 7 Tamil movies, out of which two were penned by M Karunanidhi. Cochin Haneefa and M Karunanidhi's first film together was Paadatha Thenikkal, which had released in the year 1988. The film had featured popular actors Sivakumar and Raadhika in the lead roles. The film also had songs sung by Yesudas and Sujatha.

Later, Cochin Haneefa and M Karunanidhi teamed up once again in the very same year for the film Paasa Paravaigal. This film, which featured Sivakumar, Mohan, Lakshma, Raadhika, etc., in the lead roles, was the remake of the Malayalam movie Moonnu Masangallku Munpu, which was also directed by Cochin Haneefa.
