Vikram's
Karikalan
has
been
trapped
in
a
legal
tangle.
The
historical
movie
has
been
halted
following
a
legal
notice
from
a
small-time
writer
Rajashekaran,
who
has
accused
the
makers
of
the
forthcoming
Tamil
of
plagiarising
his
story.
In
the
notice,
Rajashekaran
has
claimed
that
the
story
on
King
Karikalan
Cholan
has
been
developed
by
him
and
the
movie
bosses
of
the
upcoming
movie
are
using
it
without
his
permission.
The
court
has
ordered
an
interim
stay
to
the
shoots
and
asked
the
makers
of
the
film
to
attend
the
hearing
on
January
12.
Rajashekaran
adds
that
he
has
registered
the
story
in
the
South
Indian
Film
Chamber
of
Commerce
in
1996.
His
plans
to
make
a
film
never
materialised
due
to
monetary
issues.
However,
director
Kannan,
who
claimed
before
that
he
sought
Gandhi
Krishna's
suggestions
to
write
the
Karikalan
script,
reacted
by
saying
that
he
was
out
of
station
when
he
got
the
notice.
He
is
yet
to
meet
the
producer
and
his
legal
team
to
tackle
the
issue.
However,
Vikram
will
be
seen
in
the
historical
role
of
Karikalan
Chola,
one
of
the
popular
Tamil
kings
of
early
Chola
during
the
Sangam
period,
in
the
upcoming
movie.
Bollywood
actress
Zarine
Khan
is
enacting
the
character
of
Velir
girl.
The
movie
also
features
Anjali
in
an
important
role.
