Warner
Bros.
has
withdrawn
Clint
Eastwood
directed
movie
Hereafter
from
all
the
theatres
in
Japan
following
the
devastating
earthquake
and
tsunami
on
11th
March
and
also
postponed
the
release
of
The
Rite
in
the
country.
Meanwhile,
the
production
house
has
announced
to
raise
relief
funds
for
the
the
island
nation
from
the
DVD
and
Blu-ray
of
Hereafter,
which
has
hit
the
stalls
on
March
15.
Movie
Hereafter
was
released
in
Japan
on
February
19,
2011.
But
due
to
tsunami,
the
film
was
withdrawn
from
the
country
two
weeks
earlier
than
originally
planned.
"In
deference
to
the
tragic
unfolding
events
in
Japan,
we
have
pulled
Hereafter
from
the
theatres
and
will
postpone
the
Japanese
release
of
The
Rite
(which
was
scheduled
to
open
this
coming
weekend)
to
a
later
date," the
Telegraph
quoted
Warner
Bros.
as
saying
in
a
statement.
Just
a
day
after
pulling
Hereafter
from
theaters
in
Japan,
the
studio
announced
that
the
film's
March
15
release
on
DVD
and
Blu-ray
would
raise
funds
for
relief
efforts
in
the
island
nation.
Kevin
Tsujihara,
president
of
Warner
Bros.
Said,
"Our
hearts
and
prayers
go
out
to
the
people
of
Japan.
We
are
committed
to
supporting
relief
and
rebuilding
efforts
during
this
difficult
time."
However,
Hereafter
deals
with
three
parallel
stories
about
three
people
affected
by
death
in
different
ways.
Directed
by
Clint
Eastwood,
the
movie
stars
Matt
Damon
in
the
lead.
It
is
a
film
primarily
about
death,
grief
and
the
afterlife,
but
it
opens
with
an
intense
sequence
showing
a
tsunami
ravaging
a
coastal
city
and
leaving
its
streets
filled
with
corpses
and
wreckage.
