Srikanth's lie costs him dear

Srikanth, the upcoming hero in Tamil and Telugu is in big trouble due to his secret marriage with Vandhana. A few weeks ago, Srikanth announced his proposed official marriage on June 18 with the same girl to the press. At that time, Srikanth said rather innocently that Vandana was his friend, and both their parents had made the arrangements for their marriage. Later, Vandhana revealed that she has been in love with the actor for the past 4 years!

After a week, a report was published in the media that the family of Vandhana engaged in land fraud and there are many cases pending with the CBI on Vandhana, her brother and parents. According to the cases, Vandhana's family has cheated people to the tune of about Rs.20 crores. All these reports came out at the time the wedding invitations were being printed. Srikanth's father Krishnamachari has since stopped the printing of invitations, and has cancelled the marriage.

But Vandhana says firmly that Srikanth knows everything, and he will return soon, accepting her.

Yesterday, Vandhana took a hasty decision and entered Srikanth's house and announced that Srikanth had married her a few months ago. It was registered in the sub-registrar's office of Kakinada, Andhra on 07.02.2007. Srikanth's parent's were shocked to hear this, and asked her to vacate the place immediately. But Vandhana stayed on stubbornly, and told them that it was her matrimonial home and she will stay there permanently. This couldn't be tolerated by Srikanth's parents and they vacated the house immediately with Srikanth also going into a hiding in Tirupathi, leaving the girl alone in the house.

Soon after this incident, Srikanth's parents lodged a complaint at Vadapalani Police Station on Vandhana's trespassing.

On June 15, she told the press that she had married him in the presence of her parents but without his parents consent about four months back in Kakinada. She released her marriage photos and a copy of the marriage certificate issued by a Registrar's office in Kakinada, to the press.

Srikanth finally come out in the open, and admitted to having signed the marriage papers. The actor said: "Our marriage never consummated. After we announced the wedding date, I learnt that Vandana was jailed for an offence and the passports of her parents were impounded, as they were involved in criminal cases. Later, she walked into my house with some goondas, and fearing for the life of my aged parents, I was forced to abandon my house. Now I have sought police protection. I am ready to face the issue legally..." He also admitted that he was initially lying with the media on his marriage with Vandhana.

Vandhana has also lodged a complaint with the same police station that Srikanth had asked for Rs 10 lakhs as dowry to start his next film! She has no plans to leave the actor's house and will stay put there till he returns and accepts her as his wife!

Meanwhile, the police have started their inquiry over the issue. They have informed Srikanth to come to the station for further questioning.
