Indian
Idol
is
entering
its
sixth
season
this
year
and
its
three
judges
-
Salim
Merchant,
Anu
Malek
and
Sunidhi
Chauhan
say
that
the
focus
this
year
will
be
on
the
power
of
the
voice
and
not
the
looks.
Over
1.5
lakh
contestants
from
all
over
the
country
have
registered
themselves
online
and
through
SMS
ever
since
the
registration
process
for
entering
the
show
opened
this
month.
Bollywood
music
director
Salim
Merchant
says
that
Indian
Idol
6
hunts
for
beautiful
voice,
but
not
for
good
looks.
Talking
to
PTI,
The
Judge
said,
"It
is
a
complete
misconception
that
we
are
looking
for
a
good
singer
who
looks
good.
We
only
want
voice."
Musician
Anu
Malek,
who
has
been
a
judge
on
the
show
since
the
first
episode
of
the
show
says
that
looks
can
be
an
added
bonus
only
when
it
accompanies
musical
talent.
"I
am
not
looking
for
a
girl
who
looks
beautiful.
If
that
comes
with
your
voice,
it
can
be
an
added
bonus.
But
for
me,
voice
matters
and
nothing
else," PTI
quotes
her
as
saying.
Singer
Sunidhi
Chauhan,
who
was
a
judge
in
the
last
season
as
well,
says
her
full
concentration
will
be
on
locating
and
nurturing
singing
qualities
among
contestants.
She
says,
"Just
sing
well
and
sing
from
the
core
of
your
heart.
All
other
talents
can
come
later.”
She
adds
that
she
has
not
joined
the
show
to
judge
the
performance
of
other
vocalists.
