On his first death anniversay(Jan 22), we here bring you few interesting facts about the veteran actor. ANR has nearly acted in 255 movies in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages, who is the eminent figure for now and for ever in Tollywood. Born to a middle class family, ANR made his debut movie at the age of 17, through 'Dharmapathni'(1941). ANR has acted in several romantic movies which are still a feast to watchout for. ANR has acted in Laila Majnu, Anarkali, Batasari, Devadasu, Prem Nagar, Premabhishekam, and Meghasandesham.

The movie Premabhishekam(1981) of ANR, still remains as a highest grosser in Telugu fim industry which successfully run for more than 365 days continously. The movie was directed by Dasari Narayana Rao Premabhishekam starred ANR, Sridevi and Jayasudha in the lead roles. Seeing the successfull box collection the movie was later remade in Tamil as Vazhvey Maayam.

ANR is one among the eminent person who shifted Telugu cinema industry to Hyderabad from Madras, Tamil Nadu. For his dedicated passion towards Tollywood ANR has also built a studio 'Annapuna Studios' in Hyderabad. Nageswara Rao has received four state Nandi Awards, and five Filmfare Awards South. Rao is also a awardee of the National Dada Saheb Phalke Award and the highest honorary award for cinematic achievements in India.

ANR is also honored with Padma Vibhushan and India's second highest civilian award for his highest contribution towards Indian cinema. He is survived by his son, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and grandsons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni.
