Pichaikkaran
Plot:
Pichaikkaran
is
the
story
of
a
man,
played
by
Vijay
Antony,
who
disguises
himself
as
a
beggar
and
leads
the
life
of
one,
spending
time
on
the
streets
of
Tamil
Nadu.
What
is
the
reason
behind
him
wearing
the
mask
of
a
beggar?
Why
does
he
opt
for
a
sombre
lifestyle
when
he
can
live
life
king
size?
Answers
to
these
questions
is
what
the
film
is
all
about.
Performances:
Vijay
Antony
takes
the
action
and
sentiment
route
in
Pichaikkaran.
Not
that
he
hasn't
tried
stunts
on
screen
before
but
this
flick
projects
him
as
an
action
hero
and
the
Naan
actor
has
done
justice
to
his
role.
What's
surprising
in
Pichaikkaran
is
Vijay's
ability
to
pull
off
teary-eyed
scenes
with
pinpoint
precision.
He
manages
to
score
high
in
the
fag
end
of
the
film.
Debutante
Satna
Titus
is
a
good
find
to
say
the
least.
The
girl
sure
knows
how
to
emote
in
an
effective
manner
and
might
go
on
to
sign
a
couple
more
in
Kollywood
in
the
next
few
months.
Other
supporting
actors
including
the
one
who
has
portrayed
the
role
of
the
villain
have
done
well
enough
to
keep
you
hooked
with
their
respective
acts.
Kudos
to
director
Sasi
for
making
good
use
of
each
and
every
character
effectively.
Time
invested
in
penning
the
character
details
is
apparent
and
praisable.
Technicalities:
Cinematography
by
Prasanna
Kumar
stands
out
all
the
way
through.
His
usage
of
different
colours
and
tones
to
match
up
to
the
mood
of
different
scenes
works
in
favour
of
Pichaikkaran.
Music
by
Vijay
Antony
is
another
positive
as
it
adds
stability
to
the
film.
Also,
it's
good
to
realize
that
Vijay
Antony
the
musician
is
back,
which
augurs
well
for
the
industry.
Editing
by
Veera
Senthil
Raj
deserves
a
mention,
for
his
cuts
are
razor
sharp
throughout.
Screenplay
by
Sasi
is
on
the
average
side.
Barring
a
couple
of
logical
errors,
Pichaikkaran
is
tad
above
par
when
it
comes
to
technicalities.
Overall
View:
Overall,
Pichaikkaran
is
a
neat
attempt
by
Sasi
and
his
team.
High
on
sentiment
and
human
values,
the
film
does
leave
you
with
a
feel
good
factor.
