We just heard that Soubin Shaheer is all set to wear the director's hat for a film being produced by Anwar Rasheed. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as Soubin started off as an assistant director in films.

There are many such artists in Malayalam film industry who started off their career as assistant directors and later shifted their focus to acting. Take a look at few of them.

Dileep

Dileep is the prominent name in this list. He entered the film industry as an assistant to director Kamal. With time, he accomplished his dream of becoming an actor and now he is our 'Janapriya Nayakan'.

Soubin Shahir

Soubin has assisted a good number of directors which include prominent directors like Fazil, Siddique, Rafi-Mecartin etc. He debuted as an actor through the film Kaiyethum Doorathu directed by Fazil.

He came back to acting after a gap. It was nearly after 14 years that Soubin established himself as a bankable actor.

Tovino Thomas

Very few people know that Tovino Thomas had assisted Roopesh Peethambaran in the director's debut movie Theevram. Later on, he did one of the main roles in the director's next film You Too Brutus.

Shine Tom Chacko
