The
Priest,
the
upcoming
horror
mystery
thriller
will
feature
Mammootty,
the
megastar
in
the
titular
role.
In
a
recent
interview
given
to
a
leading
Malayalam
daily,
debutant
director
Jofin
T
Chacko
finally
opened
up
about
his
experience
of
working
with
Mammootty
and
Manju
Warrier
in
The
Priest,
and
much
more.
According
to
director
Jofin,
Mammootty
was
the
only
choice
for
the
central
character
in
the
movie,
from
the
beginning
of
the
scripting.
When
the
young
filmmaker
contacted
producer
Anto
Joseph,
he
asked
Jofin
to
talk
to
his
business
partner,
the
popular
filmmaker
B
Unnikrishnan.
It
was
Unnikrishnan,
who
assured
the
filmmaker
that
he
will
get
a
chance
to
meet
Mammootty
for
the
story
narration.
Interestingly,
it
took
almost
3
hours
for
Jofin
T
Chacko
to
narrate
the
script
to
the
megastar.
Mammootty
was
totally
impressed
with
the
narration,
and
immediately
agreed
to
play
the
part.
The
team
approached
Manju
Warrier,
the
leading
lady
after
the
senior
actor
said
yes
to
The
Priest.
The
lady
superstar,
who
was
eagerly
waiting
for
an
opportunity
to
share
the
screen
with
Mammootty,
also
agreed
to
be
a
part
of
the
project.
The
young
filmmaker
also
expressed
his
deep
excitement
about
successfully
bringing
Mammootty
and
Manji
Warrier
together
on
screen
for
the
first
time,
in
the
interview.
The
story
idea
of
The
Priest
was
developed
in
2015.
Shyam
Menon
and
Deepu
Pradeep,
the
scriptwriter
of
the
movie
penned
the
screenplay
after
a
good
amount
of
research.
Jofin
T
Chacko
also
revealed
that
around
10
days
of
shoot
is
still
pending
for
the
Mammootty
starrer.
The
sets,
which
were
specifically
designed
for
the
movie
is
still
preserved
for
the
same.
The
filmmaker
also
confirmed
that
an
OTT
release
is
not
an
option
for
the
makers,
as
The
Priest
is
a
movie
that
should
be
experienced
in
the
theaters.
